Faithe - a Life Fully Lived
It is not the conditions in life which change life for us, but mostly it is our attitude toward life and its conditions upon which depends our happiness or unhappiness. – Hazrat Inayat Khan
I was blessed to have Faithe Davis as my friend. This special woman left the universe a few weeks ago. She was a stunning, intelligent woman with irresistible blue eyes. Faithe was one of the best examples I know of someone who chose to live a full and meaningful life by “changing the picture” of the many challenges she faced.
Faithe & Joy living fully
When Faithe and her husband Jud moved from New York to London, she had just begun her new life as a garden designer, and she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Faithe learned how to face her problems and be strong. She appreciated what she had, did what she could, and got on with living. She was never angry that she had MS. She remarked: “Why shouldn't I have it? It will be an opportunity to learn how disabled people feel.”
Over the years Faithe developed her own "recipe" for coping: “Pat myself on the back. Enjoy now. Just do it. Ask for help. Don't feel sorry for myself. Don't give up. Know my limits.”
Although disabled, Faithe was a woman who listened without judgment, laughed without reservation, and supported without hesitation. This tribute honors Faithe’s legacy – the impression she left on our hearts.
As Faithe’s husband Jud (who passed away several weeks after Faithe did) said: “Faithe has an army of supporters. Many people in her circumstances might wallow in self-pity. But anyone who wants a decent quality of life can't afford to do that. Each day is too valuable and important.”
Faithe’s advice to everyone: “Long before you age or are diagnosed with a serious illness, do those things that you enjoy – don't put them off. Make them happen! Don't pay attention to other people's advice. Develop many interests, diversify your skills, and do new things. Life is short – so get on with it!”
Can you follow Faithe’s advice to get on with life and live it?
What is your dream of having a decent quality of life?
Live your life fully every day.
